Missions

The mission statement for the Chelan Church of the Nazarene is "to know Christ and to make Him known." In Matthew 28:19 Jesus says to “go and make disciples of all nations” and in John 20:21 He tells his disciples “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” So we have been called and sent to make disciples right where we live as well as of all nations.

Living out our Calling

We live out our call to missions both locally right in the Chelan valley, as well as in the nation and across the world. This local, intermediate, and global focus corresponds to the Jesus' calling to the disciples to be "witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" given in Acts 1:8.

  • Local Missions

    • Missional Communities: We are learning to live in community as a people sent to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love others as Jesus did.

    • B.L.E.S.S. Practices: We are learning how to live as people sent by God to our neighbors and communities, and to love them and share with them about the love of Jesus. This acronym teaches us to Begin with Prayer, Listen, Eat, Serve, and Share Stories with those around us. Here are some useful resources for this ongoing initiative:

    • Joining with Others as we Serve Locally:

      • The Chelan Church of the Nazarene regularly partners with Chelan Valley Young Life in our joint mission to reach kids that are far from Jesus.
      • Several families joined together to provide dinner to the Thrive Chelan Valley Teen Center to serve a warm meal to the teens there, and plan to do it again in 2025.

      • Our church is currently having a Coat Drive for Chelan Valley Hope in December 2024 to serve local families in the cold, winter months.

  • National/International Missions

    • LINKS Missionaries: There are two district missionaries and one other missionary that rotate in the district, and we are given one to develop a relationship with for the year starting in January

    • Alabaster Offering: Provides funds for property and buildings around the world, typically February and September

    • Global Week of Prayer: Typically the first week in March, this will take place next on March 2-8, 2025
